DeKALB – Carolyn Zasada, DeKalb First Ward Alderwoman , announced she'll seek the 76th District in the Illinois house in 2024 as a Democrat, putting her in line for another square up with Mayor Cohen Barnes, also running as a Democrat. Zasada's announcement means she'll square up against her former opponent, Barnes, who also announced Sept. 22 that he plans to run as a Democrat. Fellow Democrat and Northern Illinois University graduate Lance Yednock , D-Ottawa, has said he won't seek reelection in 2024.
